Preschool

In an attempt to give my little guy a head start on school, I’ve been working with him on a curriculum that I bought from The Learning Box. A friend recommended it to me, and so I figured I’d try out a month to see how it works out. To be honest, we both really enjoy it.

We have fun, can go at our own pace, and he looks forward to it every day.

If I’m being totally honest, I’ve toyed with the idea of home schooling. I haven’t decided, there are pros and cons to both, but it is on my mind. This was also a test to see if it was something I could do. Can I stick to it, do I have the patience, do I want to do it every day?

The truth is I don’t know. I love my kiddo, and I want what’s best for him. I used to look at the homeschooled kids as strange, unsocial, weirdos, but that’s just not the case anymore. With the way the politicians are screwing around education anymore, homeschooling is becoming a legit choice. Add onto that, the fact that homeschooled kids tend to go farther in education, and when involved in sports and other activities, are just as socialized as their public school counterparts.

The other issue is; he is my child. I know he is three, and has the attention span of a three year old, but he is already showing signs that he is very much my kid. I’m hoping that he does not follow in my non driven footsteps. I don’t know if I can both raise and teach a “gifted underachiever”.

Right now though, we are having fun learning preschool stuff with preschool art projects.
